Oh man Shark. Too much fun on this end. Leigh's whole family was here from Friday to Wednesday and was suprisingly good times. I guess because we aren't all awkward and puberty-y anymore. But my one cousin is going into film acting in Toronto and she was telling us about this independent horror film that she was in. She was this hick-chick addicted to heroin that gets stabbed. My other cousin and her husband came too and I haven't seen them in aaaages. (As in, never met the husband) but they are actually pretty awesome. They were in a band for a while called the Terribly Empty Pockets but they decided to settle down. She's doing her doctorate in phorensic anthropology- basically looking at people's teeth from the ancient times and telling things about there lives, like what they ate. She's teaching a class at Ohio State university. Can you beleive? Except she got food poisening on the ferry over so I barely got to talk to her. Her husband gave me a high-five the first time we met. He works at a coffee shop while his wife teaches at a university. He's still doing his undergrad while she gets her doctorate. Nutty.
And I found out that my grandmother was a nun for a little while AFTER she divorced my grandfather- which is also after having six kids. They sent her over to India before she took her full vows and they had to send her home early beacause she was so malnourished, she kept giving her food to the orphans and wouldn't eat anything for herself. When they shipped her back they only sent her to London so she had to call my 18 year old aunt, a college student living with her friends to try and get money for a plane ticket. WHAT?
It was pretty crazy times. I met my other cousin's boyfriend who is directly out of Oxford, England. He does this weird thing where he opens his eyes wide and looks from side to side when he's joking. We think that that will be the next wedding. What a keeper
Anyway, my mom's family likes to describe everything as beautiful "how's your book Nana?" "Beautiful" "Wow this is a beautiful meal" "And his wife was so beautiful"
They also over-use the word "eh"
Jasmine came over and she goes "there is a lot of people here that look like your mother"
