Ben Grasso.
Was in a limo with champagne and cuban dance grooves last night. Apparently this is what your boss can do for you when you are turning 22. The birthday girl laughed graciously and allowed everyone to buy her drinks.
Unfortunately champagne is a little sweeter than I'm used to.
This picture of the house? The bottom half is how I am feeling at the moment. Even after my sandwich and cocoa with coconut milk.

seriously, too many hours.
This past weekend was long. It started 8 am Friday morning and didn't end until 8 last night. It included roughly 10 sets of marimba, hot sun and trips to the mainland. The weekends food source included a bunch of free food, too much pizza, samosas, market berries, stomach sickening ferry french fries and this adorable huge heart shaped sprinkle sugar cookie and london fog dog god.
I swear though, there wasn't enough sleep at times and then waking up sunday morning to take the 830 out nearly killed me. But can I thank the gods for the great weather? Especially for our first "big concert" (harmony arts in west van). It was in a crazy beautiful location and there was a violin trio that played before us with a young adorable goodlooking guy. He was basically like the canadian version of alexander rybak, but with less ego and a better back story ( he broke his...upper arms skiing and fighting off bears), can I say I have a little celebrity crush? Listen to "Humerus Breakdown" http://r3.ca/0Fxd. All Carmanagh and I could think about was how neat it would be if we could actually properly dance to this music, big 18th century dress included.
We also went to this persian market and I found these gigantic breads Cyrus kept talking about. It's like naan, but no lie, maybe 2 and a half feet long? The boys had to make the point that you could easily make a suit of armor out of the bread. Or at least sleeves.
The day ended with us parking at a funeral home and hitting up dairy queen.

it's real.
Finally got around to seeing Midnight in Paris last night. $2.75 for the nine o'clock showing. Everyone who works at Cinecenta is a writing student, you really have to watch your mouth.
"I wonder if Woody Allen likes Edith Piaf" sighs the boy whimsically as he handed Zoe her popcorn. Whatever.
We talked about Rapid Thigh Motions, the name of her running team, and my consistent hot-air-brain when it comes to art trivia. Like that time that those tourists sat around gushing about some sculptor at the Met that I had never even heard of.
So today I ran to the library (not literally, jeez) and got out a book about "The Revolutionary Decade That Gave the World Impressionism" after that I will read one about the "First American Avant-Garde" and then I will get back to you. After too much time spent in the stacks with cross eyes I skipped over to the much loved noodle joint for a box of salmon pesto which I ate in the orchard of an old convent down by the bay.
Quote for the day: "In this bitch of a life, you can never be too well armed" -Edouard Manet.
Look how much I am learning already.

I let the drummer kick
On Friday, I am most likely heading off for further parts unknown, something that is both wonderful and scary. I don't know where exactly, and probably wouldn't be able to tell you if I did (hah! I've always wanted to be able to say that!)
It's fly camp time, baby.
This means I may not be able to contact you girls for the rest of the summer, so take care of yourselves and keep your faces clean and your hearts full and I'll see you on September 1st.
I'm in a strange mood tonight.

Such a Gentleman tied to the Oceanside.
The first night that my co-worker slept with her boyfriend, he showed her the "What Would Penis Do?" video on youtube. Now she says if they had slept together on the first night that they met they probably wouldn't have ever got together.
I am sitting here watching a man bike away with a VCR that he found across the street. It may rain.
Dayne is coming to stay for a couple nights. Sabo is a nervous wreck, but she always is. I have begun to notice the mood in a room completely changes when she comes in it. It's like her whole world is a stage and everything she does is for the benefit of onlookers. No wonder she crashes so hard.
Just spent the afternoon painting acrylic style on the living room floor. I had to refresh myself after that so I had a nice ten minutes of drawing really ugly people with a ball point pen.
Last night I fell asleep in the Mines of Moria and dreamed of sunshine and over large smiles. "This is the start of something beautiful disguised as something really really ugly"

Babies Don't Like Blue Anymore
This is where I would like to be. Just had breakfast with my dad, who drove 2 hours to buy lightbulbs, only to find that there weren't any. We went to the pub down the street, 4 hours early for the folk jam they do on Sundays. I have to say, veggie burgers are always too filling but I can never resist. Now I am sitting in complete melt-down mode on the kitchen arm chair, waiting for the vultures to arrive and carry off what is left of this wasted up body.
On the way home we were walking behind some guy who's t-shirt read: "I fucked Jesus STUPID" with a picture of a foetus hanging from a coat hanger. He was pretty cheerful considering.
The floor is paved with bottle caps from last night. Another reason for the vultures: had a pretty successful drinking party and for the first time, none of my actual friends were there. It was the acting crowd. This one guy stared at me in disbelief when I told him that I enjoy writing art history themed papers. Then he made off with Kat's straw hat with a big black bow. I believe there may have been some shot-gunning going on in the bathtub. All I know for sure is that I am going to make bread with the left overs.
On the menu for this evening: symphonies in the harbor, fire (works) in the sky.

Check this check this number 1 japanese town.
Just wanted to express some good hearted joy and be a girl and say that I just got roses from an Ontario boyfriend. This is the only place where I have two girls reading this.
Also, hit up the Filberg festival with jasmine yesterday. Nothing super cool, a lot of ceramics and felted jackets worth 700 dollars. Jasmine, I and her mom agreed that it was ridiculous. I think the highlights of the day was enjoying the sun, eating this amazing ice cream cone and spending at least 45 minutes, trying to figure out how to get to Cumberland and see the "ghost Japanese town", when really, it was just nothing except this one last standing house that was left from the original town, wooden stakes showing where everything use to be and this cool project they started. They planted something like 35 cherry blossom trees to represent the 35 families that were forced to evacuate and sent to the camps on the mainland during world war 2. The trees are still tiny, and apparently once they are mature, the branches will all be touching each other and everything will be connected. Cute huh?
Anyways, I'm going to go make lunch and make sure I can find my dress for the wedding the lovely marimba band is preforming at this afternoon. Hope the sun is treating you guys well.

Something in your chemistry
Checkout this cliff. I have to go back there tomorrow.
I'm listening to a bunch of random music one of the guys loaded onto my computer, eating an apple, and drinking tea. Apparently, gangster rap is the flavour of the week. I had a whole bunch of stuff to say but now I can't remember any of it. Some of the people from my pre-camp sampling crew were on the radio today and said nice things. It was good to hear their voices.
Emma, ignore those little nagging voices, or at least politely listen and dismiss them at the closest possible opportunity. You are going places, my dear. Good places.
I HAVE to do laundry sometime this week. Don't let me forget.
I'll Bet You Do This All The Time
Glorious weather, glorious chocolate almond milk in the cup on the counter. Not a lot to report around here. I am going to watch my friend from work's boyfriend ponce around in Hamlet style tights this evening. It's the Vic Shakespeare Fest up at Camosun en plein air.
Yesterday morning I was assured that there is plenty for art historians to do in this world by a woman that would know all about these things. It's funny how much I have lost focus over the summer, all the regular fears have been creeping in slowly. Especially after my aunt and uncle (siblings) laughed at my major before going back to wrestling on the couch. I guess it's best not to listen to the non-believers out there, since the majority of them have never been to university anyway. Anyway this woman has made my future seem brighter and to celebrate I am going over to the ol' Lansdowne Middle School to play soccer with my brother and his gang of wily engineers.
I will leave you with this image though.
