It`s the new way to see

Hey. M here.
I keep up this internal dialogue all day of things to write up and down this page, `cept now it`s crunch time and my sane thoughts have slipped out the back door for a ciggie.
This couple is at the bedandbreakfast for a week- their honeymoon- right now and they are the most awkward. I feel like they are secretly Amish or something. They are terrified of relaxation. And they do not even speak to each other. I took their breakfast orders this morning and they looked like I was mugging them. I put her pancakes down in front of her and she literally cringed. Anyway. Maybe I am bitter because I need excessive amounts of appreciation at all times.
And Timber Timbre was great thanks. except I sat right behind some big headed guy and couldn`t really see anything except the violinist. And the opener was playing their first show since they graduated the garage (I`m sorry that was rude...)

All those words I should have said

Yesterday, I kayaked to my neighbours' house and spent another four hours picking up sticks. But it was wicked sunny and a burn extends over my back and down both shoulders, making sleeping and showering uncomfortable. Then the guy who hired me asked if I wanted to take a spin on his 1973 Honda motorbike, which was nice, but I couldn't work the clutch and ended up pushing it down the driveway with my feet like a tricycle. And then it fell on me.

Today, my throat is swollen and I'm stuffed up, crouched over in front of the computer eating cheese. Over and out.

You Blew It

I slept until noon today. That never happens. Not sure which animal hibernates in the summer but I am becoming it. I seem to have earned brownie points at work because my boss pulled me out mid-toilet scrub to show me pictures on the internet of her new boyfriend (music producer C-Dawg, kid you not) Later she traveled up the steep flight of stairs to inform me that her allergies were acting up and could I please climb onto the bed and wipe those cob-webs off the roof. I think she is lonely.
Also went to that party at this other girl's house. I happened to sit at the end of the table with the pretentious kids- one minute reciting Shakespeare, the next talking about Stanley Kubrick's Lolita. And then Bernard, next to me tells me he works at a bike shop and that he has "oft compared a woman to a bicycle" (here I snorted and held back the dirty jokes...) And "I wrote this poem..." at which point he was distracted and I made a get away. I am serious, these were the worst dressed hip-kids I have seen.
But! I am going to buy a ticket for tomorrow night's Timber Timbre show. Listen!

Birthday Cake Icecream!

I'm pooped. As brown as the dirt above these words. We did this gig in deep bay this afternoon for a couple hours. Really random too, it was someones backyard, but they were holding a event talking about art? I guess. I'm still not sure. There was "grab" art hidden all over the place, tons of boomers and seniors dancing and just enjoying the goodlife with the ma rimba tunes in the back drop and a tent where they were selling hot dogs and pop. Beautiful day though, the sun was so bright, and I'm sure I am slightly sun burnt. Got free ice cream too! Sweet!

This wednesday we have the show on that island, that is in the city. I'm excited. My arms are weak though right now, and I'm stuffed to the tip of my tummy with food. I feel like having someone dig me a hole, so I can sleep soundly and quietly for the entire night.

Last night maddy had this little get together. It was nice. We had a fire, and whatever was left of the gang was there. I made some nearly vegan, gluten free cookies for the event. Mostly for that special gal though <3 +++ Tyrell made this delicious salad with kale and spinach and this spicy asian-ey almond butter dressing. Dang huh?

Hope your weekend was swell ladies! And take care!

We Love Girls Who Lick Roller-Blades

We also love boys with terrible haircuts that rollerblade in slow-motion home from work evryday around 7:30pm. And weird men named Herb who stand in their front lawns and just want to chat for hours about their lives since retirement. And halibut.
Just invited a whole wagon load of people over for dinner but the only ones not busy were my brother and his room-mate. Of course.
And I stopped at the art gallery on the way home to remind myself to not get distracted. Stay on track like. The show on right now is called You Blew It and features miniature sculptures of people dying terrible deaths, complete with a plain crash, a man shooting himself in the head in front of an audience and another guy cutting his arm like baloney. For some reason I really liked it. Also picked up St.Elmo's Fire on the way home, we've been having an Andrew McCarthey fest (watched Class last night, highly recommend it- I won't give anything away but nothing happens like you think it will, that to me makes a good movie)
Anyway sitting here with my feet up and a breeze coming through the window, I should really get back to cleaning stuff.

I bet you feel deep, quoting Helen Keller all like that huh?

poofter

hi all. The good news is that I didn't set anything on fire today at work. The bad news is that it looks like I have another 7 day work week. Today Marketa asked me what I thought about her son's tendency of tying a fuchsia coloured scarf around his forehead (pirate style) and wearing bunches of necklaces, all of them with those toddler oriented pastel coloured beads. I said it was funny and made some comment about Kids These Days. Do I looook like I am old enough to be giving mothers advice on their sixteen year old children? Mind you, this is a woman who sends her son out to Bamfield for the weekend with his buddies and a six pack. And then makes him a late breakfast when he is too tired to go to school when he gets back. Living the life, I think.
Yesterday I was taking Mr. T out for a walk (some small dog with about 4 different ways of saying feces instead of a breed name) and as he rolled around on his back in the grass for just long enough to get annoying I looked up and noticed a man in his underwear standing at the third floor window of the building across the street, blatantly staring. He didn't back away when we made eye contact either. There is nothing more awkward then being stared at by someone who is not wearing enough clothes.
Just overheard a conversation of the work guys outside. In between house-shaking bangs and rattles guy 1 says: You know why you should have watched the hockey game on Friday?
Guy2: Because I don't like hockey?
Guy1: No this girl sitting by the penalty box flashed the TV and they showed it on CBC (is this true by the way?)
Guy2: (smiling voice) Were they nice jungas?
Guy1: yeah. young.
