OOOOOOH AH~ OOH AH!

Victoria: city of men running in blue jeans.
We got our upstairs baby! I can hear he/she crying early in the morning and it is strangely comforting. I said goodbye to Brett today. He is in Quebec for the next five weeks. Hoo HA!
And apparently my cousin wants to reunite with the estranged part of the family so I may be road-trippin' to Calgary in late June. That should be just lovely. Hot and cranky for the WHole family.
Not a whole lot is new in this neck of the woods. (Notice that this is the only case in life when we talk about woods having necks? ) I have an interview at a cool looking b and b tomorrow afternoon. Going to a back yard bbq this evening, maybe I will make some friends to match my "b" themed lifestyle. But seriously. This bed and breakfast is run by this Eastern-European artist with an adorable young sun and a charismatic giant dog. According to the website anyway.
Here some good old Egon Schiele. Neue Gallery, New York. Try the Viennese cafe in the basement. No photography permitted inside the gallery.

This is a tree I want. Morus Alba,

So that fire and Ice event happened and ended today. At the height of the festival there was thousands of people, and the people really loved the music. Mind you, I think the qualicum population are trying to get trendy, for the people of the town or some organization, arranged a flash mob, with about a hundred people to the michael jackson's hit, thriller. All I can say is that is the longest song in history. But the day went by without problems, ladies gave us free food and mothers of four year olds want us to preform @ upcoming birthday parties. The words are escaping though. Loose with the winds huh

I'm starving though right now, but I'm just torturing myself until dinner.
PS the tree above grows white mulberries. And white mulberries are widely cultivated to be the prime food for silkworms in the commercial silk industry. Who knew?

Guess who has the 500th post? Yeah...

Heeeeyyyy, coastal people. Marimba? Sarah, your life gets more interesting every time I learn a little more about it.

My life has consisted of driving around, and around, and around. I was able to snag an "N" exam for Tuesday at 4 o'clock, so send good vibes my way. Privately, I don't think I'll be ready, but whatever. I'll give it a shot anyway.

Went to a play tonight. The acting was hilarious, and one of the characters provided some serious eye candy. Oy vey. Small town...everyone knew everyone else there. During a very serious scene (the murderer was being revealed), one of the chairs collapsed and the uptight school marm character tumbled to the ground. I would have lost my composure, but everybody on stage continued on as if nothing had happened while the audience roared, so kudos to them.

Emma, you'll just have to be creative with the sweater situation. That's all I can offer you.

I feel useless here. The above picture is from last summer, when my brother and my Dad were mixing cement for the floor of our house. The little red-roofed cabin at the top is where our family lived for 9 years.

I have also been offered the chance to take up pole dancing. Yes? No? I'm leaning towards yes.

I still say Maldives.

To awnser your question about the exchange thing, this alumni just emailed me earlier today, and apparently I'm going to have this half hour talk with her about prospects of the program, and what i can do to get this all together and ready. It's freaky. And this weekend should be a hoot, there's an marimba band sleepover, a four hour long fire and ice gig and then band practice on Sunday. It's going to be great. Oh and I'm helping teach lessons again tomorrow afternoon. I should get a day planner, just meant for marimba and just highlight the days I'm not doing anything connected to the instrument it self.

Anyways, when brett comes down this sunday, you should surprise him with some sort of food. For wednesday, he leaves for quebec and won't return for five weeks. Do a cake with lots of whipped cream and pineapple. Like late birthday, early goodbye. And listen to this song while doing it all : http://hypem.com/#!/item/66ws/Don+Omar%2C+Gilberto+Santa+Rosa+-+Los+Hombres+Tienen+La+Culpa

The Way That I Have Often Cried In Your Arms

This here is an "abandoned Soviet monument" erected in the 1960s to commemorate a WWII battle (or so says the internet).
Today I was handed a flower plucked from the window box of a fine dining establishment. The man was a little nuts and skipped away shouting " a pretty flower for the pretty girl" The middle aged man waiting to cross the road ahead of me smirked. I think I was only charged 88 cents for this green curry that I bought from the hole in the wall in market square, although I didn't realize this until I was walking away with the receipt. The man made a mistake while punching the total into the debit machine, poor guy.
Laura I have been working on the story you started off for me, although I'm having trouble deciding on a job that makes you travel a lot and yet does not require you to wear anything fancier than wool sweaters. Didn't think that through, did you?

Don omar!

Laura, I just saw your rabbit yawn. I swear, before this moment in time I've never seen it ever ever ever. Probably a normal occurrence for you, but whatever.

Yesterday I got called up on a last minute thing to go help seniors learn marimba. It lasted something like four hours. Mind you, I am very thankful that she did call, mostly because my last practice was the first time I've played marimba within the last 7 months or something. I swear though, it was really adorable sitting there beside this one lady who could not get this one song, and then she just ended up talking about getting into the rhythm of it all was her problem, and that she was going to go to coombs to buy a miniature xylophone to help her at home. People are really into it.

Shakespeare was lying drunk in a ditch...

My stomach is caving with anxiety. I am craving toast with honey. I told a friend that I couldn't go biking because my parents were coming down. I still haven't heard from them. I feel like a sneaky liar. I badly need obligations.
This is Picasso with a trumpet. I wish I could make it bigger.

The lace really adds to it.

Right now, I'm curled up on the couch watching the wedding. Drinking homemade vanilla vodka spiked coffee out of the little cup celebrating the royal wedding. Truth be told, I'm feeling a bit lonely sitting here, but at the same time, happy. I'm not going to lie,I really like the royal family. Mostly just the Queen and Diana, but as they come, they come with others following them.

I remember back in grade ten, I brought this magazine celebrating the years of Diana and who she was, and what she left behind. It was expensive, and mostly filled with photos, but I still love it to this day. Not in a creepy way. But I respect it as a book-type that I will keep for a while. Today I found out that she got married off at 20. That's us right now Mortimer and Laura.

Just think about it, you could be marrying off to a 31 year old future king this year. And a year later, you would be having a baby, and two years after that, another and then you die in a horrible car accident! That's tough.

Anyway, I mostly came on to say how pretty the bride looked tonight, and that I'm actually pretty much enjoying it right now, so much, that I wont be sleeping tonight and that my family is getting pancakes with caramel apples for breakfast. Royal treatment.

By the way Laura, your little one is doing great. She really loves dandelions and we bought her a salt rock and I'm building her a hut for the summer months (mostly because we just got a new deck and we got a hella bunch of wood left over).

Will Leap Right Out of Your Hand!

Just turned down a nice cushy gallery job in the home town arena. (Tell me you will hire me, Caroline Riedel) We are wishing and hoping and planning and praying that I can pull up the Curatorial Assistant pants by the end of the month. Surprisingly not that sore from the mountain gallumph yesterday, just got a couple of bruised toes. And also I can't touch my toes, which means I am stiff?
I have a theory about that strawberry though. This probably comes from a day of extreme laziness washing dishes and reading books about famous painters in exile. But. Does that strawberry not look like three or four separate berries merged into one? Is that even possible? Maybe in the first stages of growth?
Anyway exercising at night has always been a bad idea. I slept like 3 hours last night. If you can hear the restless insanity creeping into my words you can get a high five.
Told some pals that I would go watch The Game at their house tonight. Pretending that I am not bored crapless should be interesting.
